My garden has always looked its best in June. The roses are in bloom and all of the peonies are flowering. Really, all of the shrubs and plants I have usually been drawn to over the years, bloom in June. The vegetable garden, of course, looks great in August but the flower portion of the garden wasn’t much to look at in any month, other than June, sometimes late May. Late in the summer, lack of water really eliminated any great flower show.
Two years ago I planted a ton of Daffodil, Hyacinth and Forsythia so that there would be some flowers to enjoy in April. Last year, our granddaughter visited at Easter and the famed Bunny found his way here with his treats. It was really nice. Granddaughter is here earlier this year and the Hyacinth are all out and the scents are amazing, but it’s too early for the bunny and the best spring show. The weather isn’t terribly nice and not really conducive to long visits in the garden by the pond.
We planted a Clematis Armandii when we first moved here ten years ago and it is thriving. It grows along the fence and over the garden shed (potential chicken coop), and almost completely covers the attached weather vane. It will be beautiful when it is out. Another Armandii was planted last year further down the fence. One day, hopefully soon, the new one will meet up with the original.
I had to move all of the vegetable seeds down to the house because it just wasn’t warm enough for them, even in the greenhouse. I am worried about their survival. The 26 roses I started are happy so far with the conditions in the greenhouse. Fingers crossed..
Last year I added Dahlias to the garden for the first time. They survived the drought conditions we had in 2021 and bloomed late into the fall. They were a great addition to the late summer flower garden. It was so encouraging, I have ordered a bunch more….
Although we haven’t had much time in the garden during our granddaughter’s visit, there has been ample opportunity for swinging on the swing set, jumping on the trampoline and of course long walks with Papa looking for muddy puddles

We have moved…. yet again… This te I am going back to the house to dig up my plants, trees, and shrubs we bought to plant at our new place. Starting to think we should just put them in planters instead of the ground.
We had a house fire in a suite downstairs from us. The house was deemed unlike able by the fire department. So we were in a hotel for over a week trying to figure out what to do next.
I had planted a lilac tree 2 yrs ago from a shoot off a friend’s tree. It should flower this year. I don’t want to miss that.

How horrible for you.. I agree dig everything up.. you gotta take them with you! Planters are a perfect solution. The nursery I used to go to in Ladner loved lilacs in planters…

Moira, I think the photos and the description of the flowers and the potential blooms is beautiful but nothing is more beautiful than the photo ( video) of grandfather and granddaughter.
