I was up at 5:30… coffee going. The water was calm, sun shining. The wind finally taking a break. E was asleep and it sounded like the dog was snoring.

But, it wasn’t the dog snoring it was a larger pod of transient Orca in front of our house. Unusually close to this side of the channel. Too early in the morning to tell my neighbours although if the whales were heading south I might have tried.. Instead, I called E and the dog to get up.

Piper was so cute, he lay on the deck with his nose poking under the rail watching quietly. Even he knew it was special.

We have friends coming today (with their own nail gun) and it would be most helpful if the whales provided a repeat performance tomorrow morning.
