Places at once

/ Off Grid Islanders

Ferry trips differ dependent on my travel partner. With my husband we read in comfortable silence at our usual table in cafeteria. He likes to sit facing the direction we are heading.

With my daughter we finish the crosswords in the newspaper together. We refill our coffees often, and sit at a table with solid chairs. We are both short and can’t sit comfortably in the leather chairs.

With my sons, we usually play cards.

Tonight, I am travelling alone. I am hidden at a work station. Although my dear friends took great care of me, I have had it with the world and need my island. Camilla Lackberg is on my e-reader, James Taylor is on my iPhone.

I will be here again on Monday. Mom safe in the hospital for the weekend. Tonight I wish i was strong like I used to be and it kills me that I cant be in two
places at once.
