Looked like crap

Sometimes your day doesn’t turn out like you plan.

E was going to take our daughter back to the ferry today. We had a great week visit with her. We relaxed
on the deck in the shade enjoying the peace and quiet. We had the time to do a puzzle together capped off with a rousing game of rummy tile.

I had just suggested I would stay home with the dogs when E. went to town, when the phone rang… My sister called to say my Mom had taken ill and was off to the hospital..

So I came on the first ferry this morning and write this as I sit beside her bed. She is doing really well and has had great care. I don’t know how long she will be here or how long I can stay….but I am glad I can be here with her.

I was on a public bus from the ferry. First time on a bus for 30 years. The bus was crowded… I stood in the middle of the bus quite pleased that I had made it so quickly to Mom on 3 hours sleep…. A young cute thing was sitting under the sign beside me suggesting seats be given to the elderly and infirm. Young thing asked me if i wanted her seat.

I may have made good time but apparently I looked like crap………

  1. Last year I was travelling on the Canada Line. It was rush hour and I was standing when I felt a tap on my shoulder and it was this woman who looked in her 40’s who asked me if I’d like her seat. It must have been one of those times when I decided not to re-colour my hair! (I probably couldn’t wait until I got home to call the hairdresser for an appointment).

  5. Once I was a sweet young thing (well, young anyway!), and I remember that I thought anyone over the age of 35 was ancient!!! Best wishes for your Mom’s speedy recovery.

  7. Sweet young things think anyone over 40 is infirm. Please let us know how your Mom is doing. It’s great that you can be there with her – for both of you.
