It is still snowing out and very beautiful. I have lots of pictures to show you of our tour around the island.feb 24 029

Then we went to SoHo… There is a lot next to SoHo which is an amazing piece of property. Papa had rarely seen the original owners and there were rumors it changed hands a few years ago. Last summer survey ribbons appeared. We met the new owners who were deciding how and what to build. The lot is difficult in that it is a very narrow strip between two occupied lots (one of which is SoHo) which leads out to a rocky point of land. Coincidentaly that is what we have always called it.. The Point. It is an amazing property with a 360 degree view to die for. I include two pictures of  The Point next to SoHo because it looked so pretty today.

We ran into JN at the dock and asked permission to go up to the farm and take pictures. There have been three new lambs born already so we looked for them. We found them where they ought not to be. But in their defence they did find a nice warm place to stay out of the snow…

We came back to the fire and poured a Baileys to warm up. The water is fogged right in and it is still snowing.. As the wet snow falls off the trees it lands with a loud thump on the roof and the dog is positive we are under attack.

I have been given permission to mention another reason I was taking pictures of The Point in the snow. In January the new owners decided that they weren’t up to the challenge of building on an off grid island. The told us they were putting the lot up for sale. In truth it requires the knowledge which comes from thirty-six years of walking the property. Thirty six years of growing up on the property next door. Thirty six years of loving it.  I am so very proud to tell you that my sister-in-law and her husband have purchased The Point. She is an amazing woman who was just appointed Fire Chief in her town. I look forward to their retirement to the island in a few years.. (they are still soooo much younger than us) and know that when they do build on The Point it will be with a deep love of this island.

  3. GREAT news about S&S!!! If you get the chance, a photo from up on the cliff above the farm looking down on the log cabin (with sheep, etc) makes a great Christmas/Winter card!!!
