Big goings on at the south house as we bring it into .. I don’t know the 20th century…
Currently, we have to run the generator to run water in the house .. water in the house to flush the toilet, or have a shower or wash the dishes.. to run the generator you have to carry the gas over to power it.. It is a heavy and expensive process and very outdated.
Since we inherited the property the group have been saving up to install a water tank with a 12 volt pump to fill it… Theoretically when the tank is filled during the rainy months it will be simple to keep it filled during the drier ones with sporadic half hour pump sessions.. this is what we do at our north house and it works great.. We run our generator for a half hour every second day and it tops up the tanks on our hill. (in the summer )
So first thing we need is a water tank.. E bought a 1000 gallon tank on the neighbouring island. DY went over with him and they rolled it down the handrails of the dock and dropped it onto our boat… brought it to the bay in front of the south house.. KY and I were there (with the dogs help) to retrieve it and roll it up onto the beach… by then SSK’s were back to the south house and helped DY and E roll the tank up the hill and behind the generator shed… the tank cost (1000.00). E has ordered the 12 volt pump (239.00). in the city and we are going to pick it up tomorrow.. He figures it will be a simple job to install the tank and solve the problem which drives us all crazy at the south house.. It is going to save us tons of money in generator gas and tons of bother with the whole system.. With the solar panels installed and the water system upgraded the south house is just going to run so much more smoothly… ready for the summer occupation!!
Did I mention we have a million humming birds!!!
Once the tank was in place SSK made us to lunch on the deck ( turkey sandwiches YUM!! ) in the sun..!!!
It was a great day with great friends and family….. feels so great to get something accomplished
